Fenix E05

I've bought several of these for myself and family. It's a dependable key chain light that puts out plenty of lumens.

Great Every Day Cary Flashlight
December 26, 2018
As others have noted, this may be the best ever EDC light, though not the most expensive one. For most purposes, it puts out plenty of light and has good duration, and definitely more comfortable in the pocket than the popular A123 cell powered lights, which are much more bulky. The build quality is also very nice on this one, as is the balanced beam. I'm definitely going to be ordering some more of these, before the supply of 2014 Editions runs out!

Small but big.

This light is not much bigger than the AAA battery that powers it. It’s so small you don’t feel it, but so big when you need to use it. Highly recommend.

So Small with multi brightness
January 11, 2017
This is so small. I don't even notice it on my keys. The beam is great, good tint and shape. The lens/reflector is very strong plastic. These make great gifts. Many colors available. Pair with a lithium AAA and you are good to go.
Prossmall, multi mode, strong lens
ConsI have had two fail out of six, but they are cheap.

Great pocket light
October 25, 2016
Great edc, just drop in your pocket. Enough light for any normal task. I just wish it was available in a warmer tint. Not that the tint is bad. I just like a warmer light.
ProsSize, build, brightness.
ConsTint could be warmer.

A More Versatile EDC Light
October 24, 2016
For a few years the single brightness mode Fenix E01 in Olive was my EDC flashlight, always in my pocket on my EDC key ring along with a metal USB flash drive, an Inka Pen, and a mini-tube with meds. The E01 always served flawlessly, graciously dimming if the battery (ever) needed replacement.. I recently discovered the 2014 E05, and have switched to the E05 for its 3 levels of brightness while still keeping that reliable "twist switch" operation (I enjoy the "press to light" capability to quickly illuminate and even step through the modes). For the E05 I use a 900mAH NiMH AAA cell, and keep an L92 Energizer AAA in the car or backpack as spare. The E05 (and the E01) also can be used as an area light in hanging from a 1 to 3 person tent's lantern loop, or a hammock or tarp's ridgeline. The cap from a ChapStick Brand balm tube snaps snuggly on the business end, and with a 9" length of thin guy line attached through its keyring, the E05 can easily be suspended. The low level brightness makes a good low level area light in a small tent. The E05's brightness 3 brightness levels range from a 8 Lumen low (less than the E01's 13 Lumen) to a brighter 25 Lumens, and then even a very bright 85 Lumens (more than enough for finding stuff, more for looking into the dark distance). The beam color is a more neutral white than the E01, and is optimized more for flood than throw, which is fine for "finding stuff" or illuminating a good distance ahead with good area coverage.
ProsReliable, simple twist switch operation that also affords "momentary" use in hand. Durable construction. Good brightness mode step-spacing make for a very useful, very small EDC light. More pleasing neutral white than most low cost AAA lights. Good value for the price
ConsSome may want a lower low and/or a higher high

This is my new EDC small light.

I wear it on a breakaway around the neck. I have worked too many decades, going in to dark places, I ALWAYS have this, sometimes several others "just in case"
ProsXXXX Quality Construction, Great Electronics to power Up the LED. Size and weight feels like it is not even there.

Fenix E05
May 9, 2015
This is a remarkable little flashlight! I bought it to replace my Fenix LG01 which I lost after carrying for years with daily use. Since the E05 costs less than half as much I was a little sceptical, I'm pleasantly surprised and happy. The E05 is a perfect flashlight to carry in your pocket, feels great to hold and bright. I think everyone should have one!
ProsWell made, small, bright.
Small and brighter than you think

This is a great little light that can go anywhere. Perfect for getting around in the dark where you need just a little bit of light like going to the bathroom in middle of night at a hotel. Small size allows you to "hold" it with your mouth when you need a third hand. AAA batteries easy to find and or carry extras. Great compact light.
Prossmall size, goes anywhere
Consnone unless you want a brighter (BIGGER) light

Versatile EDC light.
December 13, 2014
For years I carried E01s on my key chains. Thirteen lumens was adequate for most of my everyday needs. Occasionally, I would find myself looking around for something a little brighter. Consequently I latter purchased a couple of the stainless steel versions of the E05 with its three intensity levels (i.e. 8, 25 and 85 lumens). These flashlights are extremely durable but also rather heavy. This aluminum version of the E05 provides me with all of my desired basic attributes (i.e. compact, durable, greater levels of lighting intensity) and provides the additional bonus of being a fly weight. This light is much better suited for my key chain.

great little light!

If you need a light with a clip this one does not have one. The light works very well unlike my i3s that takes ten twists to change modes. Sequence is low,med then high. The led tint on mine is very warm even warmer than my incandescent AA mag light! The beam pattern is very floody which is why I bought it. Hard to say any more till I use it awhile. I recommend this light so far!!
ProsSmall, light, high CRI, and seems to be good quality so far!
ConsNeeds a clip but still used for keychain!!

A Good Light but I still prefer the older LOD series of single AAA lights
September 18, 2014
Nothing wrong with this little single AAA light. I have always liked the LOD series of Fenix single AAA lights and was hoping this light would have the same tactile feel and finish. I am not disappointed and this light is a lot cheaper than the previous LOD series so all is good.
ProsGood available light modes. Easy UI.
ConsNothing to complain about for the price

Good so far
September 1, 2014
I purchased this a few weeks ago to attach to my keychain as an EDC light. I have used it several times (not counting using it just to test). The low setting is basically for very dark areas just I provide a little light. But I that task it does it well. Medium and high settings are for throwing some real light. The light has not turned itself on, the bezel is still tight (a spare o-ring is included with the light), the finish is holding up well to being banged around with keys on a daily basis. I have not yet needed to change the battery. So far it has done earthing I have needed and expected it to do.

Great value for great light

Been using the E05 2014 edition for some time. Very high quality, decent runtimes for an AAA light. Simple to use interface and well spaced modes. This light is my EDC everywhere light!
ConsDoes not take out the trash.
